LCF's
Photo Gallery of
P.
bengalensis chinensis
Range: Throughout
central
China and Taiwan.
The P. b. chinensis
subspecies is thought to be the most striking and beautiful of all the
Leopard Cat subspecies, with light golden -tan coat and beautiful two-tone
paw print rosettes sometimes forming a chaining pattern. Though not related,
many feel they resemble a south American species known as Oncilla (Leopardus
tigrinus) and Ocelot (Leopardus pardalis).
The Chinese refer
to the chinensis as money cats, because of their large rosettes
resembling Chinese coins.
Unfortunately,
their exquisite coats make them a prime target in the fur industry and
an estimated five hundred thousand P. b. chinensis are harvested
yearly for their fur as well as meat each year.
To our knowledge,
LCF is the only facility breeding this magnificent, documented subspecies
in North America and is proud to announce that it has established a large
colony of this magnificent subspecies and have been very successful in
breeding them annually. In fact LCF has been so successful that LCF will
be offering this cubs of the chinensis subspecies starting in 2008.
